Online Artists Collective Offers Track for Remix Contest - Voting Now Open
In early June, Fake Science, LLC - an online music store and artist collective, offered a track by UK electronic artist, Roberiff, for an open source remix contest. For two months Fake Science allowed anyone to download the song "Stringing Away Revisited", a sublime mix of classical string instruments combined with a hip-hop breakbeat. Artists were invited to cut, mash, splice and remix the track in any way they saw fit. The Fake Scientists narrowed the mixes down to 9 candidates and are now allowing all of their patrons to vote for their favorites. At the end of the contest, the artist with the most votes will win an iPod Nano and all of the mixes will be offered as a free download to patrons of the store.
